From a Conservatory to a Kitchen

Harjit and Raj Kambo got in touch with us over two years ago to start planning their dream kitchen! The Kambo’s didn’t want to rush in to their renovation without making sure that they had every detail covered. Most importantly they wanted to know they had the best kitchen company on the job, so they took their time to watch our progress and made sure we were always producing to a high standard. Once they had done their research, read our reviews and were happy to proceed they gave us a call to start the ball rolling.

This kitchen involved moving the services from what was the ‘original’ kitchen space out in to the conservatory. We removed all of the gyproc and fully insulated the walls to retain the heat, as this was normally quite a cold room, so much so that it went unused. In order to add the ‘wow factor’ to the new kitchen and really open up the space we also installed three new velux windows, which are a real focal point in the room. We then removed a wall between the original kitchen and dining room to create a huge living space for the whole family to enjoy their wonderful daughters’ piano skills. And finally plastered both rooms to ensure an exceptional finish before starting to fit the kitchen.

It’s fair to say that this kitchen was a real family affair. Right from the very beginning, the full family got involved in the planning. We sat down with the Kambo’s to discuss and plan their dream kitchen and together, as a family, they agreed and made every decision together – which was really lovely to see! Thankfully the kids and Mulberry managed to persuade Harjit and Raj against the red and black kitchen they had originally envisioned. Instead, we opted for a bright and airy, neutral colour scheme that really helps to open up the space and is truly timeless in terms of style.

The Kambo’s originally had their reservations as they cook a lot of curry and were worried about staining on the light surfaces. However, since we only use high-quality products we knew this wouldn’t be an issue. In order to comfort the couple we left turmeric on our stain resistant worktop and to the Kambo’s astonishment it wiped clean with no effort whatsoever – and we all know how easily turmeric can stain.

After settling Harjit and Raj’s nerves, we decided on our white gloss handless kitchen with Silestone Blanco Stellar worktops. Storage was also a priority and in order to store all of the couple’s cooking supplies we installed our new Kessebhommer graphite tall pullout which now has soft open as well as soft close. We also supplied and fitted new flooring, chrome sockets, facings and skirting’s. To complete the look we fitted our grey Blanco Composite sink, which sits well against the light coloured worktops. Furthermore, we also installed a sophisticated grey glass splash back, which looks extremely luxe but is exceptionally easy to clean and maintain – win win!

All in, the Kambo's kitchen took 3 weeks to complete. Take a look at the before and after pictures:
